Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (Matthew 18:21-22)
Today’s question is what does this really mean? The Savior holds us accountable for our actions; he will ultimately do this on judgment day. Do we allow people to harm us? Probably not. But even on judgment day, the Savior will wish us to repent, His heart will be soft towards us. We are to always have a soft, forgiving heart towards others even when protecting ourselves. Perhaps that is some measure of what it means.
