Hope is closely related to desire. Thus, unlike faith which is typically about things that are independent of us, hope is very connected to us. It has a rudder aspect for us, connecting and correcting our course to the proper course.

Confidence, is typically inward focused. Whereas the first principle of the gospel is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, which is externally focused.
