Scripture Study: 2 Nephi 4 and “Cut off”

Fri, Nov 17, 2017, 12:27 PM

Thought you might find interesting.

Today’s scripture study made me ask why this verse from 2 Nephi 4 does not contain true opposites?

Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence.

We prosper, or are cut off. Why aren’t they opposites?  Is it that the wicked may prosper under some conditions?  And the righteous might not always feel the sense of the Lord close (as when the Savior was on the cross).

I’m not sure why.
