In about the year 2000, I was asked to present to Organizational Behavior students by my friend and professor, Dr. Rick Ringer at Illinois State University. I’ve attached the slide deck I used below.
The content that was better than what I said in the deck was when Dr. Ringer asked me near the end to explain the students why trust was important in business. Although I don’t know if I had ever had the thought before, I opened my mouth and said:
“I can tell you why trust is important simply. When my wife trusts me, I can explain something in 5 words that I cannot explain in 5,000 words when she does not.”
It was perhaps the first time I realized that trust creates efficiency, like nothing else every will.
