Overview
We are beings of glory, as Sons and Daughters of God (see God, Glory of). We sense this, and desire to have glory. Yet we are now here to humble ourselves, and learn obedience by the things which we suffer.
True glory will be bestowed upon us as we follow our example, Jesus Christ (see Glorify [Forward Reference])
I Glory is bestowed upon us
Our destiny is to have glory.
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Ps. 8:5
2 And from that time forth Enoch began to prophesy, saying unto the people, that: As I was journeying, and stood upon the place Mahujah, and cried unto the Lord, there came a voice out of heaven, saying—Turn ye, and get ye upon the mount Simeon.
3 And it came to pass that I turned and went up on the mount; and as I stood upon the mount, I beheld the heavens open, and I was clothed upon with glory;
4 And I saw the Lord; and he stood before my face, and he talked with me, even as a man talketh one with another, face to face; and he said unto me: Look, and I will show unto thee the world for the space of many generations.

II Glorying in self is not true glory
God commands us to not seek the glory of the world
61 Wherefore, let no man glory in man, but rather let him glory in God, who shall subdue all enemies under his feet.
Why? Because it is worthless.
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

IV There are different degress of glory
But people receive differing degrees of his glory.
96 And the glory of the celestial is one, even as the glory of the sun is one.
97 And the glory of the terrestrial is one, even as the glory of the moon is one.
98 And the glory of the telestial is one, even as the glory of the stars is one; for as one star differs from another star in glory, even so differs one from another in glory in the telestial world;
The degree of glory we receive is dependent upon the laws we are willing to obey.
22 For he who is not able to abide the law of a celestial kingdom cannot abide a celestial glory.
23 And he who cannot abide the law of a terrestrial kingdom cannot abide a terrestrial glory.
24 And he who cannot abide the law of a telestial kingdom cannot abide a telestial glory; therefore he is not meet for a kingdom of glory. Therefore he must abide a kingdom which is not a kingdom of glory.
We choose the glory we are willing to enjoy.
27 For notwithstanding they die, they also shall rise again, a spiritual body.
28 They who are of a celestial spirit shall receive the same body which was a natural body; even ye shall receive your bodies, and your glory shall be that glory by which your bodies are quickened.
29 Ye who are quickened by a portion of the celestial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness.
30 And they who are quickened by a portion of the terrestrial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness.
31 And also they who are quickened by a portion of the telestial glory shall then receive of the same, even a fulness.
32 And they who remain shall also be quickened; nevertheless, they shall return again to their own place, to enjoy that which they are willing to receive, because they were not willing to enjoy that which they might have received.
When we arise on resurrection morning, the glory we have earned will be apparent.
- 1 Cor. 15:41 (D&C 76:81, 98) one star differeth from another star in g.

- D&C 131:1 in the celestial g. there are three heavens

V Glory comes after trails
What then, creates more glory?
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
3 Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.

Summary
We should seek to be endowed with the Glory of the Lord. This glory is not the same as Man’s Glory. It comes only from God. It comes in differing degrees, depending upon our righteousness, and the trails we patiently endure.
