My good brother has been working hard on honesty for the last two years. A week ago, in encouraging him as he reviewed times he hasn’t been honest because he was attempting to hide problems and appear better than he was able to be, I suggested “Piousness can’t rob honesty.” He said the thought was useful to him. Every virtue is tempered by another virtue.
